Mold
Damage Inspection
Over 16,000 individual species of mold exist in the natural world, some which are as harmless as tablesalt, and some which are capable of causing life-threatening illness. Of all of these many thousands of molds, not one of them belongs within your property. The most common cause of microbial growth indoors is water damage that has been allowed to dwell for a period of more than 3 days in contact with natural materials. When this happens, airborn mold spores which exist in the air around us at all times settle upon saturated cellulosic materials and begin to feed upon the nutrients therein. Molds must also have the correct temperature and minimal exposure to ultra-violet light, depending upon the species, in order to survive. This is why most indoor molds are found in darker areas such as attics and basements feeding upon natural materials like woods, drywall and clothing.
The initial inspection consists of visual analysis of the afflicted areas followed by more specific testing of the surrounding areas. If the property owner is concerned with the nature of the mold in their property, additional labratory testing is available to identify the molds in question. Any visible molds found within the vicinity of a traffic area will be sealed off with 6 mil poly plastic untill they can be removed during the remediation. Moisture detection equipment is then used to track the path of moisture to the source of the damage and also to its furthest extent. This will help All Service specialists to determine the possiblity of microbial growth beneath the surface in areas not visible from inside the property, such as behind walls and beneath floors. Any area of the property that has cellulosic (natural) building materials which are susceptable to water is a canididate to be a microbial breeding ground.
After the source and extent of the damage have been identified, All Service specialists consult the property owner regarding the damages and the best possible course of action for remediation. Once the terms of the remediation are agreed upon, All Service will assist the owner of the property in opening an insurance claim if neccessary, and a date to begin remediation is then set.
